How do journalists evaluate success with web analytics? I found that there is not one way of understanding analytics success. Rather, as these metrics tools change quickly, news organizations struggle to keep track of successes or even understand how to evaluate success. This may be a problem for news organizations seeking to develop a more sustainable business model.
But it's important to news organizations not to loose sight of their mission (or brand).
Two years ago, I went into newsrooms to understand how success is managed and I found that rather than being a tangible thing, success is cultural matching between web analytics companies, media workers, and audiences.
